I was an English major in college, which has
contributed to my communication skills in marketing
and design. That degree, combined with a background
of being "artistic," (being able to draw, etc...)
opened the door to graphic design. Early on it was
package and logo design, and later, point of sale and
promotional materials. That all eventually developed
into integrated marketing communication. Concepting,
slogans and strategic thinking.
Being able to communicate with a picture alone is a
challenge, an artist does that on a canvas, or
sculpture, or what have you. The graphic designer has
the added ability to use words with his pictures to
communicate. Its this type of communication design
that hooked me years ago. I really love what I
do.
